Robert Tjarko Lange is a Staff Research Scientist and Founding Member at Sakana AI, where he works on automated scientific discovery, self-improving agentic systems, and evolutionary computation. He holds degrees in Economics (Cologne), Data Science (Pompeu Fabra), and Computing (Imperial College London), and is completing his PhD at TU Berlin. Previously, he interned twice at Google DeepMind (Tokyo and London). His recent work includes ShinkaEvolve, a system for open-ended agentic discovery, and The AI Scientist, a framework for fully automated scientific research.
Robert Tjarko Lange ist Staff Research Scientist und Gründungsmitglied bei Sakana AI, wo er zu automatisierter wissenschaftlicher Entdeckung, selbstverbessernden agentischen Systemen und evolutionären Algorithmen forscht. Er hat Abschlüsse in Volkswirtschaftslehre (Köln), Data Science (Pompeu Fabra) und Informatik (Imperial College London) und promoviert derzeit an der TU Berlin. Zuvor absolvierte er zwei Praktika bei Google DeepMind (Tokio und London). Zu seinen jüngsten Arbeiten zählen ShinkaEvolve, ein System für offene agentische Entdeckung, und The AI Scientist, ein Framework für vollständig automatisierte wissenschaftliche Forschung.
